With Acer computer
being the second largest computer company, the
status Acer has earned was not earned by making
shoddy computers with inferior components. Many
parts make up a working computer and some of the
more vital pieces of a computer are the computers
processor and its hard drive. To this end Acer has
made a concerted effort to maximize its potential
when it comes to an Acer Hard Drive. Since Acers
inception in 1976 to the present, this company has
made a significant name for itself with its
affordability and availability. However, simply
because they are a more affordable option does not
mean that you as a computer user will have to
sacrifice quality, and this is embodied in an Acer
Hard Drive.
The hard drive was
first introduced in the 1950’s. These early model
drives only held a small amount of information and
were called fixed disks. Shortly after the advent of
the floppy disk, the name was changed to hard drive
to avert any confusion with the floppy disk. These
drives are based on the use of magnets that are used
to record data and information. By using magnets,
the information can be easily recorded as well as
erased should the need arise. The benefit of having
a hard drive broken up into small magnetic segments
or pies means that a person can record and store
large amounts of information and data is a very
small space.
The performance of an
Acer Drive is often gauged by data rate. This
is the speed that data or information is sent from
the hard drive to the computers CPU, which will
normally fall into the category of 4 to 5 MB’s per
second. Another performance meter is seek time,
which indicates the time it takes from when your
processor requests information from a file and when
the first bit of information is sent to the CPU,
usually in the range of 10 to 20 milliseconds.
Another factor in a hard drives performance is the
capacity or size. This is often measured terms of
gigabytes.
An Acer Hard Drive
works in concert with your computers processor,
which means that these two components are the life’s
blood of your entire computer (in simple terms, one
is the engine and the other is the starter). While
Acer does not make processors, they do make hard
drives. With this component playing such a huge role
in your computers overall performance it is
important that the quality is what is needed to have
a computer that runs like it should and is up to
whatever challenges you have ahead for it.
